MTN One TV to Help Ghanaian Creators Monetise Content – Misto

MTN Ghana Chief Digital Officer, Ibrahim Misto, says the launch of MTN One TV will create new opportunities for Ghanaian filmmakers, actors, producers and other content creators to monetise their work and reach wider audiences.

He said the Pan-African video streaming platform would help connect content owners with audiences while creating a stronger digital entertainment ecosystem capable of generating revenue across Ghana’s creative industry.

Speaking at the launch of MTN One TV, Mr Misto said Ghana had abundant creative talent, but one of the industry's major challenges was ensuring that local stories received the platforms and audiences they deserved.

“By partnering with producers and content owners, we can expand the reach of Ghanaian film and television, make content easier to discover, and give emerging talent greater visibility,” he said.

MTN One TV brings together local movies, series, live channels and international programming, offering customers flexible viewing options and access to entertainment on the go.

According to Mr Misto, the platform would create opportunities for content creators, broadcasters, advertisers and other industry players to collaborate and benefit from the growing digital entertainment market.

He noted that a strong digital content ecosystem could generate new revenue streams and support professionals, including writers, directors, actors, editors, technicians and production crews who depend on the creative industry for their livelihoods.

“We are telling them to monetise on that platform because if they are there and MTN helps them to scale, they would win, Ghana wins, and so we do as well,” he said.

Mr Misto stressed that the success of the initiative would depend on partnerships with content producers and owners, encouraging industry players to work with MTN to identify challenges and develop solutions that deliver value to creators and consumers.

He added that the future of Ghana’s creative industry would require collaboration among content creators, broadcasters, telecommunications operators, technology providers, regulators and investors.

Such partnerships, he said, would help attract investment, expand opportunities for Ghanaian talent and build a sustainable digital entertainment ecosystem.

The launch forms part of MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary celebrations under the theme "30 Years of Progress, Powered by You".

Mr Misto said the company had evolved from a traditional telecommunications provider focused on voice and data into a digital platform business supporting businesses, startups and wider ecosystems.

He reaffirmed MTN Ghana’s commitment to developing digital solutions and partnerships that would help Ghanaian creators expand their reach and build a competitive creative industry.
