President-elect John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing corruption, reducing excessive government expenditures, and rectifying the shortcomings of the outgoing administration as central pillars of his leadership.
In his New Year address for 2025, Mr. Mahama assured Ghanaians of his determination to restore integrity and efficiency in governance. “We will work tirelessly to correct the outgoing administration’s many wrongs, tackle corruption with dogged determination, and reduce excessive government expenditures,” he declared.
The president-elect outlined ambitious plans to rejuvenate Ghana’s economy, highlighting the introduction of his 24-hour economy policy as a key driver of growth and job creation.

He pledged to transform Ghana into an export-driven economy by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
“Together, we will create an environment that fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development, ensuring that our youth can achieve their dreams right here at home,” Mr. Mahama stated.
He promised a lean and efficient government committed to accountability and inclusiveness, emphasising the importance of building a governance system that reflects the shared hopes of all Ghanaians. Recognising the youth as the backbone of Ghana’s future, Mr. Mahama urged them to channel their energy and creativity into national development.
To business owners and entrepreneurs, he assured support in overcoming challenges and promoting wealth creation. “We are committed to removing barriers, simplifying processes, and providing the necessary resources to empower you to build and expand your businesses,” he said.
The president-elect also called for national unity and optimism as Ghana embarks on what he described as a transformative journey.
He reiterated his vision for a Ghana defined by opportunities, equity, and shared prosperity, expressing confidence in fulfilling his campaign promises and building a brighter future for all.
