Puretvonline can confirm that President John Dramani Mahama travelled to Japan aboard a regular Emirates Airlines flight, dismissing claims that he used an expensive private jet.
The clarification follows allegations by the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, who suggested that the President had flown on a private jet with registration number M-BAEP and estimated the cost of the trip at about $690,000.
Checks by Citi News, however, confirm that President Mahama departed Accra on Sunday afternoon, August 17, aboard Emirates flight EK318 after attending a thanksgiving service for the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah. He transited through Dubai before arriving in Tokyo at 5:43 p.m. local time.

President Mahama is currently in Tokyo for the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is expected to address a plenary session on Promoting Trade and Investment.
He was received on arrival by officials of Ghana’s Embassy in Japan and representatives of the host government.
The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation as Ghana seeks to leverage TICAD to deepen trade, investment, and international cooperation.
