MTN Ghana plans to stop using scratch cards by June 2024

The MTN Ghana scratch cards that were first offered in 2020 will gradually be phased out as of June 30, 2024. This implies that after July 1, 2024, users who still have unused MTN scratch cards would not be able to recharge them.

Customers can use credit transfers at any MTN Customer Experience Centre to redeem the value of their scratch cards, according to a statement issued by the firm on Thursday, May 23, 2024, according to Chief Sales and Distribution Officer Samuel Addo.

The business states that the action is consistent with the government of Ghana’s digitization vision and MTN’s strategy to lead digital solutions in Ghana and beyond.

He went on to say that one way they can help save the environment, encourage customers to use digital devices, and improve customer service delivery is by gradually phase-out the scratch card.

“One way we can help protect the environment, empower customers to drive digital usage, and improve the efficiency of customer service delivery is by gradually phase out scratch cards.”

In a statement, MTN urged users to keep recharging using the MyMTN app, MoMo, and Ayoba, among other current digital channels.

“Our dedication to maintaining a clean environment is demonstrated by the 50% bonus that consumers receive on every Mobile Money recharges.”
