Government to unveil 80 educational projects nationwide on November 21

The commissioning of over 80 educational projects across Ghana’s 16 regions on Thursday, November 21, 2024, represents a bold step toward enhancing access to quality education nationwide.

Led by President Akufo-Addo, with key officials such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the nationwide event underscores the government’s commitment to transforming the educational landscape.

These projects cater to a variety of educational needs, from early childhood facilities to STEM-focused senior high schools and technical institutions. Among the highlights are the Kpasenkpe Model STEM SHS in the West Mamprusi District, the Accra STEM Academy in La-Nkwantanang-Madina, and the Awaso Model STEM SHS in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai. Basic education facilities, such as the Salem D/A Basic 12-unit classroom block and kindergarten facilities in rural communities, also demonstrate the initiative’s inclusivity.

The Ashanti Region features prominently with projects like the Bosomtwe Model STEM JHS, which includes an impressive four-story classroom block, and upgrades to Kumasi’s Wesley Girls Demonstration School. In the Northern Region, the Sagnarigu Tamale Business School will unveil a new 18-unit classroom block, addressing growing student demand. Similarly, the Volta Region benefits from modernised facilities, such as a six-unit block at Kodzobi Ando Basic School.

The focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) highlights the government’s resolve to equip students with practical skills for the workforce. Schools like the Anyinam and Akomadan TVET institutions are designed to prepare students for careers in applied technical fields, bridging the gap between education and employment.

This comprehensive initiative reflects the government’s broader agenda to provide every child with access to quality education and a conducive learning environment. By broadcasting the ceremonies live across multiple platforms, the Ministry of Education aims to engage citizens nationwide in celebrating this milestone. It’s a powerful demonstration of how strategic investment in education can foster regional development and national progress.
