Full Audio: NDC drops bombshell audio in ambulance purchase trial

An audio tape purportedly records Attorney General Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa, the third defendant in the contentious ambulance purchase trial, and was made public by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This action comes after Jakpa stated in court that the Attorney General had contacted him on multiple occasions to develop a case against the main accused in the trial, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the former deputy minister of finance.

In a stunning admission made in court on May 23, 2024, Jakpa said the Attorney General had called him at strange hours and put pressure on him to implicate Dr. Forson.

He threatened to provide more information if the Attorney General persisted in accusing him of standing up for Dr. Forson rather than concentrating on his own case.

The claims made by Mr. Jakpa have given the already well-known case a fresh angle.

Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah Yeboah of the Attorney General’s office promptly rejected Jakpa’s allegations.

The office made it clear that Jakpa was the one who had frequently approached the Attorney General about entering into a plea deal, which the latter had rejected.

With the dismissal, the office hoped to refute Jakpa’s story and preserve its position in the court case.

The NDC aired a 16-minute audio cassette that supposedly included Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa’s voices during a press conference on May 28.
