Ministry of Communications Opens Online Registration for One Million Coders Programme
The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has opened registration for the One Million Coders Programme, a major national initiative aimed at transforming Ghana’s digital skills landscape and preparing citizens for the fast-evolving technology-driven economy.
In a social media post, the ministry announced that registration is currently ongoing and encouraged interested applicants to secure a place through the official portal: https://onemillioncoders.gov.gh.
The programme is designed as a large-scale digital skills intervention targeting one million Ghanaians, with a strong focus on practical training in coding and other in-demand digital technology competencies.
According to the Ministry, the initiative is aimed at strengthening employability, promoting entrepreneurship, and enabling broader participation in the digital economy, as Ghana accelerates its push toward a more technology-driven future.
“The One Million Coders Programme is a national digital-skills initiative designed to equip one million Ghanaians with practical, in-demand coding and digital technology skills to enhance employability, entrepreneurship, and participation in the digital economy,” the Ministry stated.
The programme is expected to play a key role in bridging the digital skills gap, particularly among young people, while also supporting national efforts to build a competitive workforce capable of meeting global technology demands.
Officials say the initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to digital transformation and innovation, with coding and software development seen as critical skills for future jobs across multiple sectors.
With registration now open, the Ministry is urging interested participants to apply early to secure their spot in what is expected to be one of the country’s largest digital skills training programmes.
The initiative forms part of Ghana’s wider strategy to position itself as a regional hub for digital talent, innovation, and technology-driven economic growth.
