Ghana Joins Global Outcry Against Israel’s Attack on Qatar

The Government of Ghana has joined the international community in strongly condemning Israel’s unprovoked attack on Qatar, describing the development as a serious threat to peace and stability in the Middle East.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the government aligned itself with similar condemnations from the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), and several other governments worldwide.

President John Dramani Mahama has conveyed Ghana’s solidarity with the people and leadership of Qatar through a formal message delivered via the Foreign Ministries of both countries. The message expressed Ghana’s sympathy for those affected and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting efforts that safeguard peace in the region.

According to the statement, Ghana “continues to urge dialogue, diplomatic rapprochement, and strict respect for international law” in addressing the crisis. The government also reiterated its long-standing support for a two-state solution as the only sustainable path to lasting peace in the Middle East.

Additionally, Ghana called for the release of all hostages being held as a consequence of the escalating conflict, warning that further entrenchment of hostilities would have grave humanitarian and security consequences for the region and beyond.

Israel’s attack on Qatar has sparked swift global condemnation, with many international actors urging restraint and immediate diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation. Analysts warn that the crisis risks deepening regional instability, particularly given Qatar’s strategic role in Middle Eastern diplomacy.

Ghana, which has historically positioned itself as an advocate of peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution through dialogue, says it will continue to engage with international partners and multilateral institutions to support a peaceful resolution.

“We remain committed to peace, dialogue, and respect for international law,” the statement concluded.
