Stop Delegating Official Duties to Your PAs – Linda Ocloo Warns MMDCEs

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has issued a stern warning to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) against delegating official duties to their personal assistants (PAs).

Speaking at a press briefing and meeting with MMDCEs on Thursday, August 28, 2025, she described the growing practice as alarming, citing instances where PAs not only attended official functions but also signed documents on behalf of their bosses.

According to her, such actions erode accountability, breach confidentiality, and weaken the authority of elected and appointed officials.

“Some of you have surrounded yourselves with personal assistants who have virtually taken over your official responsibilities,” Ocloo cautioned.

“If you have decided to bring PAs, let them be clear that their role is strictly to help you organise your schedules, manage your time, and provide administrative support. Your PAs are not to approve documents and not to represent you at official meetings. This must stop immediately.”

She further stressed that personal assistants have no place in Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) meetings, warning that discussions at such levels often involve sensitive and confidential matters.

The Regional Minister reminded MMDCEs that assemblies are public institutions run by appointed officials, not unelected individuals acting in the shadows.

“No MMDCE is to attend any RCC meetings with their PAs. Note, some issues are strictly confidential,” she added.
