Two people have been confirmed dead and six others injured following a road accident at Mile 40 on the Buipe–Kintampo highway on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The crash involved a Kia truck with registration number AF 5123–25, loaded with groundnuts and carrying eight passengers, and an empty trailer with registration number AW 1963–21, which was travelling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi.
DOII Salisu M. Sirilbaini, Public Relations Officer for the Savannah Regional Ghana National Fire Service, told Citi News that preliminary investigations suggest the trailer attempted to overtake the Kia truck, causing the collision.

A rescue team from the Buipe Fire Station rushed to the scene and managed to save six passengers. Sadly, two people were pronounced dead on the spot.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Buipe District Hospital.
