Greater Accra Regional Minister Restores 126 Streetlights Across the Region

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has announced the successful restoration of 126 streetlights across various metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.

This initiative follows her earlier pledge to ensure at least 70% of streetlights in the region are operational within her first 50 days in office. The move aligns with the government’s efforts to enhance visibility and security in the capital.

Key areas that have benefitted from the streetlight restoration include:

  • George Walker Bush Highway
  • ACP to Pokuase
  • Independence Avenue (Jubilee House)
  • New Town Junction to Ashaiman Road

During an assessment tour on Tuesday, March 25, the minister assured that efforts were underway to restore the remaining non-functioning streetlights.

“Today, March 25, marks exactly my 50 days in office, and I am pleased to report that significant progress has been made. A total of 126 streetlights have been restored across highways, town roads, and community roads in 29 MMDAs,” she stated.

She, however, noted that streetlight installations on the Tema Motorway and the Accra-Tema Beach Road remain pending due to ongoing construction works in those areas.
