The president highlighted the dangers of corruption within law enforcement, warning that unethical practices erode public trust and compromise the integrity of the justice system.

“Corruption in law enforcement undermines justice and weakens public confidence in our security agencies,” he stated.

Mahama called on the new IGP to take decisive action against all forms of misconduct, emphasising the need for a disciplined and ethical police force.

“It is crucial that all forms of unethical behaviour, from bribery to the abuse of power, are decisively dealt with,” he added.

The president reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a police service that prioritises public interest and upholds professionalism in its operations. With this charge, IGP Yohuno faces the formidable task of cleansing the service and restoring faith in the country’s law enforcement institutions.
