Ghanaian actress, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Kafui Danku-Pitcher has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA) Ghana.
Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the country’s creative arts sector, as she brings a wealth of experience in film production, advocacy, and leadership to the role.
With a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and Classics from the University of Cape Coast and an ongoing Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) at the University of Ghana, Kafui Danku-Pitcher has demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to professional growth. Her diverse expertise spans leadership, governance, digital innovation, communication, and fostering industry partnerships.

Having been an active figure in Ghana’s film industry since 2008, Kafui has worked as both an actress and filmmaker, producing and starring in several acclaimed films.
As the Executive Producer at ABC Pictures Limited since 2013, she has played a crucial role in shaping Ghana’s film landscape, promoting local storytelling, and empowering emerging creatives. Her work with the UNHCR as a repatriation assistant further showcases her ability to drive social change, demonstrating skills in research, policy analysis, and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
Beyond the film industry, Kafui Danku-Pitcher has established herself as a dedicated activist and goodwill ambassador.
She launched the ‘Silence Is Not Golden’ initiative to encourage women to speak out against societal injustices, campaigned against child marriage, and actively supported children suffering from Kwashiorkor. Her efforts in advancing women’s roles in governance, economic development, and peace and security have earned her recognition from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
Her contributions to the creative industry have not gone unnoticed. In 2024, she was named Tourism Personality of the Year and received the Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneur’s Rising award. Through her ‘Dream Achievers Project,’ she has also empowered start-ups, reinforcing her dedication to fostering economic growth and youth development.
In her new capacity as Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, Kafui Danku-Pitcher is expected to implement policies that will propel Ghana’s film industry to greater heights.
