Ken Ofori-Atta declared wanted: We mustn’t call OSP names when he starts coming after us—NRSA Director reacts

Abraham Amaliba, Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), has advised officials of the Mahama administration to avoid corrupt practices as investigations into financial misconduct intensify.

His warning follows the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) ongoing probe into former officials of the Akufo-Addo administration, including former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Ofori-Atta has been named a suspect in four major corruption cases, including the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML). Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has also declared him a wanted person, demanding his immediate return for questioning.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV with Selorm Adonoo, Amaliba urged current government officials to remain accountable and uphold integrity in their duties. He emphasised that the fight against corruption would not be limited to past administrations but would extend to the current government as well.

“This is the time that his hands [Special Prosecutor] are free, but we government appointees must also know that after he’s done with former executives, he will be coming after us. I don’t know what time he’s going to come, but when the wrongs are committed in our administration and he comes after our people, we mustn’t start calling him names,” Amaliba cautioned.

He further stressed the importance of transparency, warning officials against undermining the special prosecutor’s work when future investigations target their administration.

“The fact that he’s doing this because people voted for accountability doesn’t mean that the accountability will not be extended to us who are in power today,” he noted.

Amaliba’s remarks highlight the increasing scrutiny on government officials and serve as a reminder that corruption will not be tolerated, regardless of political affiliation.
