President John Dramani Mahama has officially relieved Rev. Daniel Ogbarmey Tetteh of his duties as Director-General of the Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), effective immediately. The decision was communicated through an official letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President.
In the same letter, Rev. Ogbarmey Tetteh has been instructed to hand over his responsibilities to Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, who has been appointed as the acting Director-General of the Commission.
The letter did not outline specific reasons for Rev. Ogbarmey Tetteh’s removal.
However, it is expected that Dr. Avedzi will oversee a smooth transition and maintain stability in Ghana’s capital markets during this leadership change.
Dr. Avedzi’s appointment is seen as a crucial move to ensure the continued functionality and development of the SEC, as the country moves forward with its financial regulatory efforts.
