World Bank Disburses $360 Million to Support Ghana’s Economic

The World Bank has released $360 million to Ghana under its International Development Association (IDA) facility as part of efforts to help the country restore macroeconomic stability and build resilience for sustainable growth.

The disbursement, made on Thursday, September 11, 2025, falls under the Second Resilient Recovery Development Policy Financing (DPF) operation. The programme is designed to back the Government of Ghana’s initiatives to strengthen economic recovery, support job creation, and fortify the foundations for long-term sustainable development.

The funding follows approval by the World Bank Board in June 2025 and subsequent ratification by Ghana’s Parliament in July.

The Second Resilient Recovery DPF focuses on four core objectives:

The World Bank explained that the package is part of a broader engagement strategy in Ghana, aimed at crisis response, recovery, and resilience building. It complements earlier budgetary assistance provided under the First Resilient Recovery DPF and aligns with ongoing reforms under Ghana’s IMF programme.

According to the Finance Committee’s report of July 2, 2025, the loan is structured to complement investment lending and technical assistance while accelerating reforms in critical sectors such as energy, finance, and climate resilience.

The World Bank noted that the programme’s expected outcomes include improved fiscal management, a more stable financial sector, increased private investment, enhanced energy sector accountability, and strengthened climate and social safeguards.
