VIDEO: “Police Cocked a Gun on My Father Before Arresting Him” — Piesie Esther Shares Childhood Struggles

Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician Piesie Esther has opened up about her difficult childhood, recounting a traumatic moment when her father was arrested at gunpoint in their home.

Speaking in an interview on Hot FM’s Aye Hu Show, Piesie Esther revealed that her father, who owed large sums of money to several people, was confronted by his debtors, who brought police officers to their house.

“My father was strong and gallant and was very difficult to arrest, so one time, police came to our house and cocked a gun on him so they could arrest him. It could have been difficult for them to arrest him if they hadn’t put such fear in him,” she said.

The gospel singer explained that life was far from easy for her and her family, but through those hardships, she experienced the mercies of God. Quoting scripture, she likened her journey to that of David in the Bible.

“We have seen a lot of things, and I thank God that I went through such difficult moments. David in the Bible said, ‘It was good you humbled me, and I have learnt your ways.’ Today I can confidently say, no matter your challenge, God will surely help you because we have been there before,” she emphasised.

Reflecting on her music career, Piesie Esther credited her Christian upbringing for shaping her into the gospel artist she is today. She noted that being a member of the Church of Pentecost, where music plays a central role, and attending an SDA school, where she was taught hymns, laid the foundation for her gospel ministry.

“With that Christian background, it would have been very difficult for me to sing any other songs apart from gospel,” she added.

Now one of Ghana’s celebrated gospel musicians, Piesie Esther says her story is a testament to God’s grace and faithfulness. She has just released a new single, “Nyame Ye”, which is currently available on all music platforms.
