VIDEO: First Lady Lordina Mahama Weeps Uncontrollably as She Lays Wreath-laying to Helicopter Crash Victims
First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Lordina Mahama, was overwhelmed with grief as she paid her respects to the eight victims of the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.
The emotional moment unfolded at the forecourt of Jubilee House, where a solemn tribute ceremony is being held in honor of the fallen heroes.
The victims included Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six others who were onboard the ill-fated military aircraft.

The First Lady, draped in black, approached the memorial site accompanied by Minister of Communications Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, and her three children—Farida Mahama and Sharaf Mahama. Upon laying a wreath at the base of the memorial structure, Mrs. Mahama broke down in uncontrollable tears, visibly shaken by the magnitude of the loss.
Her children and aides quickly moved to comfort her, gently holding her as she wept. Unable to contain her grief, the First Lady was quietly led away from the scene.
The ceremony is part of a series of national mourning activities being held in the lead-up to a state funeral scheduled for Friday, August 15. It has drawn dignitaries, political leaders, and members of the public, all united in sorrow and remembrance of those who served the nation with distinction.
The government has declared three days of national mourning, and books of condolence have been opened across key state institutions, including the Ministries of Defence and Environment, the NDC headquarters, and the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters.
