Technology Must Embrace Open-Source Code for Greater Transparency and Innovation- Apple co-founder
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has called for greater adoption of open-source technology, arguing that transparency and collaboration are key to driving innovation in the digital world.
Speaking at Talent Arena, a premier technology and digital talent event hosted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Wozniak emphasised the importance of open-source development in ensuring ethical and sustainable technological progress.
Wozniak, a long-time advocate for accessible and transparent technology, urged the industry to prioritise open-source code. “Technology should move towards more open-source code, as this would allow us to go back, review the technology created, and perhaps improve it,” he stated.

Wozniak also stressed that greater transparency in software and hardware development is essential for building public trust.

“With open-source code, we can better understand how technology works and make improvements where necessary. This is especially crucial as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation become more integrated into our daily lives,” he added.
