Shatta Wale blames Bullgod for $4M album deal collapse

Dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has accused his former manager, Bullgod, of sabotaging a $4 million record deal by leaking the tracklist of his highly anticipated Gift of God album.

In an interview on Kessben FM, Shatta Wale revealed that the leak derailed a major international rollout planned by the record label.

“I lost a $4 million record deal because of Bullgod,” Shatta Wale stated. “After he illegally published the tracklist of my Gift of God album, the record company cancelled the deal. I explained to them that it was an action from my former manager, but they still declined. It was devastating.”

The Gift of God album, initially announced for a 2020 release, faced several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shatta Wale had positioned it as a groundbreaking project featuring international collaborations and described it as a timeless masterpiece for his fans.

However, the leaked tracklist reportedly made the record label reconsider their investment, citing concerns over the breach. Left with no choice, Shatta Wale released the album independently in 2022.

According to Shatta Wale, Bullgod’s actions stemmed from personal frustrations following the end of their professional relationship.

“Because he was no longer working with me, he wanted to disgrace me by leaking the album,” Shatta alleged.

Bullgod, who has yet to respond to these accusations, has previously been at the centre of controversies with Shatta Wale after their fallout.

Despite the setback, Shatta Wale continues to thrive as one of Ghana’s leading musical icons, although the missed deal remains a sore point in his career.
