President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed Charles Kraikue from his position as Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), effective immediately.
An official statement released on April 2, 2025, from the President’s Secretary, Dr Callistus Mahama, informed Kraikue of the termination and directed him to hand over his responsibilities to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who will assume the role of Acting Director-General.
The statement reads:
“I write to formally inform you that the President of the Republic has terminated your appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, effective immediately. You are directed to hand over your duties to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who shall act as the Director-General of the Authority. The president extends his gratitude for your service to the nation.”

The official communication did not specify the reason for Kraikue’s dismissal, though it coincides with ongoing restructuring efforts within several key government institutions.
Stephen Wilfred Arthur, the new Acting Director-General, will take charge of the GCAA, overseeing the operations of the authority and ensuring a smooth transition during this period of change.
