Paul Adom-Otchere Shares Emotional Post-Detention Homecoming

Paul Adom-Otchere, the embattled former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has released a touching video capturing his emotional reunion with his family after his recent release from the custody of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

The 10-minute video, which surfaced less than 24 hours after his release, offers a personal and humanising view of the veteran broadcaster’s ordeal amid an ongoing investigation into a controversial GACL revenue assurance contract.

Visibly moved, Adom-Otchere is seen embracing his wife and engaging in a heartfelt conversation about the toll of his legal troubles and the surprising volume of support he received while in detention. His wife mentioned that among those who reached out were former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, Samira Bawumia—an indication of Adom-Otchere’s deep connections in Ghana’s political and media landscapes.

The widely circulated footage also showed snippets of messages and phone calls from sympathisers, including prominent figures across the political divide, reflecting the public interest in the case and Adom-Otchere’s influence in national affairs.

Adom-Otchere was detained by the OSP over his role in a revenue assurance contract between GACL and Evatex Logistics Limited—a deal alleged to have been executed without full board approval during his tenure as chairman. The OSP is probing possible breaches in the procurement and governance processes leading to the award of the contract.

His time in custody reportedly stemmed from difficulties in meeting bail requirements, particularly the condition of providing landed property as surety—an issue that has reignited public discussion around the fairness and accessibility of bail conditions in high-profile corruption investigations.

The OSP continues its investigation into the GACL contract saga, even as public interest grows following Adom-Otchere’s emotional video and the high-profile attention the case has attracted.
