A pastor, Reverend Daniel Yaw Donkoh, popularly known as D.Y. Donkoh, has been arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court for allegedly publishing a false prophecy on TikTok about the assassination of Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale.
Rev. Donkoh is facing a charge of publishing false news, to which he pleaded not guilty. The court, presided over by Mrs. Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Basit, granted him bail in the sum of GHC20,000 with three sureties, one of whom must be justified. He is also required to report to the police every two weeks.
The case has been adjourned to August 27, 2025, for a Case Management Conference.

Donkoh’s lawyer, in applying for bail, argued that the pastor is a responsible family man with four children and a permanent residence at Tabora, Israel, in Accra, where he also founded a church. He further assured the court that his client had been cooperative with investigators and posed no flight risk.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kwadwo Aboagye informed the court that the complainant, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, is a musician and businessman based in East Legon.
According to the prosecution, on July 21, 2025, Shatta Wale’s public relations manager, Samuel Baah Atuobi, also known as Sammy Flex, lodged a complaint after a video surfaced on TikTok in which the pastor claimed to have seen a prophetic vision of Shatta Wale being assassinated by three armed men.
The video reportedly caused fear and trauma to the musician, prompting police involvement.
Chief Inspector Aboagye further noted that initial attempts to contact the pastor were unsuccessful. However, on July 25, police received intelligence that angry fans of Shatta Wale were planning to besiege Donkoh’s church in retaliation.
To forestall any potential violence, officers proceeded to the church at Tabora Alhaji and invited Rev. Donkoh for questioning.
During investigations, the accused admitted to posting the video, stating that he intended to attract Shatta Wale’s attention.
