The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has broadened the categories of officials and dignitaries eligible to vote in its upcoming presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
A statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, said the move was in line with transitional provisions adopted at the party’s National Annual Delegates Conference in Accra on July 19, 2025.
The new groups to be included in the register are:
- All former regional and constituency executives
- Past national officers
- Members of the National Council of Elders and Patrons
- External branch executives
- TESCON leaders
- Former party card-bearing MPs, ministers, and MMDCEs
Qualified members have been directed to register through their respective national, regional, constituency, or external branch structures. For members abroad, an online registration link will be provided.
The deadline for registration is Friday, September 19, 2025, after which the Presidential Elections Committee will carry out verification and validation to ensure the credibility of the register.
The NPP emphasised that the exercise demonstrates its commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and transparency in the conduct of the primaries, which will select the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
