The forum will focus on five key pillars, designed to drive transformational change in Ghana’s educational system. These pillars are grounded in the 2018–2030 education strategic plan and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto, with inputs from a wide range of experts.
- Infrastructure Development: A focus on both physical infrastructure, such as schools and classrooms, and virtual infrastructure, particularly ICT in education.
- Quality Education: Discussions will address how to improve quality across basic, secondary, tertiary, and TVET education, with an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility.
- Regulation, Accountability, and Governance: The need for stronger frameworks to ensure educational institutions are properly regulated and held accountable will be a key topic of discussion.
- Education Financing: Ensuring that education receives sustainable funding for long-term improvements and quality outcomes will be a major focus.
- Research and Data: The importance of research and data in shaping education policies and monitoring progress will also be addressed.
The forum will feature keynote addresses from two distinguished Ghanaians in the diaspora: Prof. Joseph S. Agbenyega from Australia, who will address the theme of “Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future,” and Prof. Kwame Akyeampong from the United Kingdom, who will discuss the theme in the context of teaching and learning.
Prof. George K. T. Oduro, Chairman of the Planning Committee, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming forum, noting that it will provide a valuable platform for education stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions that will shape the future of education in Ghana.
The National Education Forum, which begins tomorrow, offers a unique opportunity for in-depth dialogue on the future of Ghana’s education system.
With regional engagements set to take place over the next week, followed by the validation conference in Accra, the forum is poised to generate actionable insights that will guide the transformation of education in the country.
Education stakeholders, experts, and the general public will have a chance to contribute to shaping policies that will ensure a sustainable and inclusive educational future for all Ghanaians.
