The total value of mobile money transactions in Ghana reached GHC 323.2 billion in June 2025, according to the latest Summary of Economic and Financial Data released by the Bank of Ghana.
Although the figure reflects a 10.2% decline from May 2025’s GHC 360 billion, the data paints a much more robust picture when viewed year-on-year. In June 2024, mobile money transactions stood at GHC 224 billion—meaning the country has recorded a GHC 99.2 billion increase, representing a 44.3% annual growth in transaction value.
This continued rise underscores the resilience and growth of Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem despite short-term monthly fluctuations.

In terms of transaction volume, 735 million transactions were recorded in June, reflecting a 7.7% decline from 796 million in May 2025. However, the drop is marginal when compared to the 644 million transactions logged in June 2024—marking a 14.1% growth over the past year.
- Registered mobile money accounts stood at 76.4 million.
- Of these, 24.5 million users were actively transacting during the month.
- The float balance—which represents the total value of funds stored in mobile wallets—also saw an uptick, reaching GHC 28.9 billion.
These figures suggest that while June saw a modest monthly dip in activity, the broader trend remains positive, with more users engaging in mobile transactions and higher values being stored in digital wallets.
The data underscores the sustained demand for mobile financial services across Ghana, driven by increasing digital literacy, convenience, and financial inclusion initiatives. Analysts believe that while occasional dips are expected, the structural growth of the sector remains intact, supported by widespread smartphone adoption, expanding fintech partnerships, and regulatory reforms promoting digital payments.
Mobile money has become an essential part of Ghana’s financial landscape, serving as a vital tool for personal finance, business operations, and even government disbursements.
