The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) has firmly rejected allegations circulating on social media suggesting that the sector minister, Samuel Nartey George, has misappropriated public funds.
In a press release, the Ministry clarified that the document being widely shared online has been taken out of context and misrepresented. According to the statement, the document is merely an extract from a broader official submission seeking commitment authorisation from the Ministry of Finance.
The ministry explained that such submissions are part of standard public financial management and procurement procedures and are based on budgetary allocations already approved by Parliament for the 2026 fiscal year.
MoCDTI stressed that the request in question has not yet received approval from the Ministry of Finance. As a result, no funds have been released, disbursed, or spent in relation to the projects and activities outlined in the document.
“The claims suggesting that public funds have already been squandered are inaccurate, misleading and devoid of context,” the statement noted.
The Ministry further clarified that the request covers a range of planned initiatives, including projects, operational activities, and programme interventions scheduled for implementation within the 2026 fiscal year.
It emphasised that the process is preliminary and forms part of routine administrative procedures required before any government spending can occur.
Reaffirming its stance, the Ministry underscored its commitment to transparency and accountability in the execution of its mandate.
It assured the public that all financial activities are conducted in strict compliance with established regulations governing public finance.
The ministry urged the public to disregard the circulating claims, insisting they should be treated “with the contempt they deserve”, as they do not reflect the true status of the financial process.
