Mobile money transactions in Ghana reached a new peak in April 2025, with a total value of GH₵365.0 billion, according to data from the Bank of Ghana’s May 2025 Summary of Economic and Financial Data.
This marks a 3.8% increase from the GH₵351.7 billion recorded in March 2025 and is the highest monthly value since the start of the year. The steady growth underscores the increasing reliance on mobile money services for day-to-day transactions across the country.
In terms of volume, mobile money transactions rose from 764 million in March to 778 million in April, showing a clear upward trend in usage.

The Bank of Ghana attributes the surge to several factors, including:
- Higher mobile phone penetration
- Expansion of mobile money agent networks
- Increased consumer trust in digital financial services
- Convenience and speed of mobile platforms
Mobile money continues to be a critical driver of financial inclusion, allowing millions of Ghanaians to access and use financial services without needing traditional bank accounts.
