President John Dramani Mahama has successfully restored access to his official X (formerly Twitter) account (@JDMahama) after it was compromised on March 16, 2025.
The hack led to the unauthorised promotion of a cryptocurrency scam, Solana Africa, which falsely claimed to be an initiative led by the president to enable free payments across Africa using the Solana blockchain.
Acknowledging the incident, President Mahama expressed gratitude for the support received, confirming that his team worked alongside X support to recover the account.

“Thank you for your enquiries and offers to assist. My team, working with X support, has successfully restored my account,” he wrote.
The breach first became apparent when Mahama’s account began sharing promotional content about Solanafrica, prompting concerns among his followers.
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) had earlier assured the public that it was actively collaborating with X and other key stakeholders to resolve the issue and implement measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
With the account now secured, the incident underscores the growing cybersecurity threats faced by public figures and the need for stronger digital protection measures.
