Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, well known by his stage as Lil Win, was arrested on Monday, June 3. The Asokore Mampong District Court granted him GHC50,000 bail with two sureties.
Soon after Lil Win was released from the hospital, she was arrested by Manhyia Divisional Command officers assigned to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department.
The three-year-old youngster who was sadly killed in a recent accident involving the vehicle he was driving is the reason for his arrest.
The deceased person’s family had escalated their demands for justice, but police claimed that the reason for the delay in making the arrest was his health.
Lil Win is accused of recklessly inflicting injury and driving too fast.
The prosecution asked that the accused be accessible for questioning at any time during the court hearings while the investigation was ongoing.
Margaret Adjei-Twum, Lil Win’s attorney, argued in favour of bail, pointing out that her client needed additional treatment due to injuries, including internal bleeding.
She gave the court her word that Lil Win, as a well-known person, would follow the law.
The judge granted bail and postponed the case until June 27, 2024, in spite of the ongoing investigation and the substantial police presence in the courtroom.
