“It’s Not Your Business”- Nana Yaa Jantuah Responds to Claims of Abandoning CPP

Former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has strongly refuted claims that her recent appointment as a presidential staffer by President John Dramani Mahama signifies her departure from the CPP.

During a panel discussion on TV3, Ellen Ama Daaku, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, questioned Nana Yaa Jantuah’s political allegiance.

Ellen suggested that Jantuah’s new role indicated a shift to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I sat here about a year and a half ago and asked her to join the NDC. When I saw how she was speaking and campaigning, I actually suggested she vie for the position of women’s organiser in the NDC,” Ellen Ama Daaku remarked. “Now, I’d like to know if she has fully ditched the CPP and officially joined the NDC.”

In response, a visibly annoyed Nana Yaa Jantuah dismissed the suggestion outright, saying, “It is not your business.”

Despite the speculations, Nana Yaa Jantuah reaffirmed her allegiance to the CPP, emphasising that her appointment does not undermine her political roots. “I am representing Ghana, but I’m still a member of the CPP,” she stated firmly.

Jantuah expressed gratitude for her new role and praised President Mahama’s inclusive approach to governance. “This is a good sign of inclusivity, and it shows that President John Dramani Mahama does not believe in a winner-takes-all approach. If he is appointing me to such a high office, it shows the trust he has in people and in systems. He believes in the hard work of individuals and does not dwell too much on politics,” she added.

Nana Yaa Jantuah, who previously served as the Director of Public Relations and External Affairs at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), was officially appointed to the Office of the President on January 21, 2025.

Her endorsement of the NDC during the 2024 general elections had fuelled rumours about her political realignment.

However, she remains steadfast in her position within the CPP while bringing her wealth of experience in public relations and leadership to the presidency.

With her new role, Nana Yaa Jantuah is expected to play a crucial part in the administration’s communication strategy, further highlighting President Mahama’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and meritocracy in governance.
