The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has assured Ghanaians that he will carry out his duties with the highest level of commitment to ensure peace and security.
Speaking after his swearing-in on Friday, March 14, he declared, “I will approach my new role with utmost seriousness, fully aware of the responsibilities.”
COP Yohuno emphasised that professionalism, transparency, and accountability will be the foundation of his leadership as he works to fulfil the aspirations of Ghanaians for a safer country.

His appointment follows the revocation of the tenure of former IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. President John Dramani Mahama officially swore him in at the Jubilee House, marking a new chapter for the Ghana Police Service.
The appointment was confirmed in a press release signed by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
With his commitment to serious and effective leadership, COP Yohuno is expected to drive reforms aimed at enhancing security and public trust in law enforcement.
