“I now understand why she is quite unique”- Kwabena Kwabena to Obaapa Christy

Ghanaian Highlife and Hiplife legend Kwabena Kwabena has publicly praised gospel singer Obaapa Christy for her humility and warmth during a recent music collaboration — while sharply rebuking another unnamed gospel artist for showing what he described as disrespect and spiritual elitism.

In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, the Adult Music hitmaker, born George Kwabena Adu, recounted how Obaapa Christy graciously welcomed his request to collaborate, a gesture that stood in stark contrast to the cold shoulder he received from another gospel figure.

“On this note, I want to appreciate Obaapa Christy because when I phoned her and talked to her about the song, she really made me feel like she was honoured to do a song with me. It was so humbling,” he said. “God bless her in everything she does.”

Kwabena Kwabena did not hold back in expressing his disappointment with the other gospel artist, who he said made him feel like an outcast due to his secular music background.

“One of them made me feel like I was a worldly person. I think that gospel artist was a bit disrespectful because I phoned her personally as an artist-to-artist and she gave her phone to her husband to speak with me,” he stated bluntly.

He noted that Obaapa Christy’s humility and professionalism have given him insight into why she stands out in the gospel music industry.

“I now understand why she is quite unique,” he added.
