Viewers were treated to a powerful display of brotherhood and raw emotion on the debut episode of “PrimeTime with George Quaye” on Joy Prime, as dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy paid glowing tribute to his former mentor and musical elder, Samini.
Appearing unannounced during the live broadcast, Stonebwoy surprised both the host and Samini, setting the stage for a moment that transcended music and showbiz.
“He’s a big brother to me — and when I say ‘big brother’, I mean it in its real form,” Stonebwoy declared with heartfelt conviction.

The Grammy-considered artist, known for his commanding presence and lyrical brilliance, stripped all bravado and spoke directly from the heart, recounting his journey under Samini’s High Grade Family label and the unshakeable bond they’ve maintained over the years.
“Over the years, we have still found the family important to stick together, irrespective,” he said. “That’s why I refer to him as my big brother — because it really is what it is.”
But what struck the deepest chord was Stonebwoy’s emotional reflection on how Samini became part of his personal life — beyond the studio and the stage.
“I’ll be honest to say that he is one of the people who I say — anybody who didn’t meet my mother, I cannot take too personally,” he revealed. “Because he met my mom. He met my dad. He’s my big brother.”
The normally composed Samini was visibly touched, his eyes glistening with emotion as he absorbed the words of the man he once nurtured into stardom. Host George Quaye was equally moved by the heartfelt exchange.
This moment of sincerity not only silenced long-standing rumours of tension between the two icons, but it also cemented their legacy as brothers — not just collaborators — who have shaped the course of Ghanaian dancehall music together.
