GHC813 Million Debt, Only GHC25 Left in NITA’s Account – Sam George Exposes Revenue Diversion
The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has been left with just GHC25.08 in its Bank of Ghana account, despite owing a staggering GHC813,486,505.89, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations Samuel Nartey George has revealed.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, March 24, Sam George alleged that the previous Akufo-Addo administration signed a third-party contract that redirected all of NITA’s revenue to a private company, starving the agency of funds while leaving it with massive debt.
According to the minister, revenue generated from NITA’s services is funnelled into private hands, leaving the agency unable to fund its operations.

“How is it that NITA, which provides critical IT infrastructure, has only GHC25 in its account while it owes over GHC813 million? Meanwhile, a private company is collecting millions off NITA’s infrastructure.”
Sam George further disclosed that he had refused to authorise a GHC4 million payment to the private vendor and has instead referred the matter to the Attorney General for legal action.
“I will not sign off on this GHC4 million payment. I have summoned the private company involved to explain why NITA is broke while they profit.”
Calling the situation a clear case of state capture, Sam George assured that a detailed briefing would be presented to Parliament for further action.
“I will go before the House and expose the full extent of this financial mismanagement.”
