New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasised that true political leadership is defined by vision and transformative ideas—not personal riches.
Addressing party delegates in the Dormaa West constituency on Wednesday, October 22, as part of his Bono Region campaign tour, Dr Bawumia said Ghanaians are more interested in leaders who can deliver development and improve lives than those who flaunt their wealth.
“Ghanaians do not vote based on personal wealth but on the ideas a candidate offers,” he said. “No one uses their own money to develop a country. You cannot ask people to look at your properties and vote for you.”

Dr Bawumia, one of five contenders vying to lead the NPP into the 2028 presidential election, stressed that ideas, innovation, and integrity must drive Ghana’s next phase of progress.
He urged party delegates to choose a leader with bold, practical solutions rather than one who relies on displays of affluence to win support.
“What truly matters are the ideas you present to the electorate—ideas that can transform lives and drive national development. It is not about money; it is about vision and ideas, and that is what I bring,” he asserted.
