Ghanaian highlife musician Dada Kwaku Dua, affectionately known in showbiz circles as Dada KD, has passed away. The news was confirmed by his manager, King Pee, to MyJoyOnline.
According to King Pee, Dada KD fell ill on Friday, May 16, 2025, and became unresponsive, unable to speak. He was quickly rushed to the Gbawe SDA Hospital, but sadly, he passed away that same evening.
Dada KD was 56 years old.
The beloved highlife star was reportedly preparing for a major show in London, scheduled for May 25, as part of his efforts to rekindle his international presence and celebrate decades of music.
Known for his smooth voice and deeply emotive lyrics, Dada KD rose to fame in the early 2000s with timeless hits that explored themes of love, heartbreak, and social life. His best-known songs include:
- Odo Mu Anigye
- Ene Me Nye
- Yebeye Yen Ho Fi
- So Mu Gye
- Obiaa Se Eye
He was widely admired for his authentic highlife rhythms, soulful delivery, and ability to blend traditional and contemporary influences, cementing his place among Ghana’s modern highlife greats.
Since news of his passing broke, fans and fellow musicians have flooded social media with tributes and fond memories of the late singer, praising his contributions to Ghanaian music and his gentle personality.
Industry stakeholders are also calling for a fitting state-supported farewell to honour the legacy of a man many considered a pillar of modern highlife.
