Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele capped off a stellar season by winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or, edging out a strong contingent of FC Barcelona players at the awards gala in Paris on Monday night.
Dembele beat Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal to claim the prestigious honour, with PSG teammate Vitinha, Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, and Barcelona’s Raphinha rounding out the top five.
While Dembele walked away with the night’s biggest prize, FC Barcelona dominated the ceremony, sweeping multiple categories across men’s and women’s football.
Barça Women’s midfield maestro Aitana Bonmatí made history by winning her third consecutive Women’s Ballon d’Or, adding to her 2023 and 2024 triumphs.
In the youth categories, 17-year-old Lamine Yamal was once again named winner of the Kopa Award for best young player, securing the honour for the second year running. Barcelona’s dominance extended to the women’s category as Vicky Lopez scooped the inaugural women’s Kopa Award.
The ceremony, hosted by France Football magazine, celebrated the standout performers of the 2024–2025 season, cementing Barcelona’s influence on world football while marking a career-defining moment for Dembele, who finally stepped out of the shadows to claim football’s most coveted individual prize.
