Chief of Staff Leads High-Powered Delegation to Receive Remains of Omane Boamah, Murtala Mohammed, 6 Others

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, this evening led a high‑powered government and military delegation to receive the mortal remains of the eight victims who perished in Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

The bodies, recovered from the Dampia Range Forest Reserve near Adansi Brofoyedru, were transported to Kumasi aboard a Ghana Air Force aircraft. Upon arrival at the Air Force Base, the caskets were received in a solemn, military‑honour ceremony attended by senior officers of the Ghana Armed Forces, members of the Air Force leadership, and government officials.

Draped in the national flag, the remains were carried with full military honours as prayers and moments of silence were observed in respect for the fallen.

The fatal crash claimed the lives of five prominent civilians and three Ghana Air Force crew members:

Investigations into the cause of the crash—which occurred en route from Accra to Obuasi during an official assignment—are ongoing, with preliminary reports pointing to adverse weather conditions as a possible factor.
