The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) will, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, launch its Environmental Care and Cleanliness (ECC) Programme at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana in Nima, as part of efforts to promote environmental responsibility and sustainable living.
The initiative, which coincides with this year’s Christian Home Week celebrations, is under the theme “A clean environment: Our responsibility!” and is expected to mobilise Christians and the general public toward improved sanitation and environmental stewardship.
According to the General Secretary of the Council, Rev. Dr Cyril Fayose, the programme reflects the Council’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges confronting the country, particularly issues related to pollution and poor sanitation.
He emphasised that environmental protection is both a moral obligation and a civic duty, urging citizens to play an active role in safeguarding the environment for present and future generations.
The ECC Programme is designed to encourage behavioural change, promote cleanliness in communities, and support national efforts aimed at tackling environmental degradation. It is also expected to complement ongoing initiatives to address the adverse impact of illegal mining and other harmful human activities on Ghana’s natural resources.
Rev. Fayose noted that while public discourse on environmental issues remains important, practical action such as the ECC Programme is critical in achieving lasting solutions.
He further called on all Ghanaians to actively participate in the launch and subsequent activities, stressing that collective responsibility is key to building a cleaner and healthier society.
The Christian Council of Ghana has therefore extended an open invitation to the public to attend the launch event, describing it as a significant step in rallying national support toward environmental care and conservation.
