BoG to Begin Receiving Digital Credit Applications in November

The Bank of Ghana has announced that it will start accepting applications for digital credit services from November 3, as part of efforts to operationalise its new regulatory framework.

According to Deputy Governor Matilda Asante Aseidu, the directive on digital credit service provision came into effect last month, setting out clear ethical lending practices, disclosure requirements, and governance standards.

She explained that the move reflects the central bank’s goal to provide structure and accountability within Ghana’s growing digital credit ecosystem, which now serves millions of users.

“This marks a critical step toward a transparent and sustainable digital credit market,” she stated, encouraging fintech firms interested in offering credit services to prepare their applications accordingly.

Matilda Asante Aseidu made this statement during the 2025 FinTech Stakeholder Forum held  at the Movenpick Abassador Hotel in Accra at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel under the theme “Harnessing Ghana’s FinTech Potential: Regulatory Framework for Digital Credit and Digital Assets”
