BoG Governor appointed chairman of COCOBOD Educational Trust Fund

A newly formed five-member committee headed by Dr., the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing the educational trust fund of COCOBOD.

The members of the committee are Dr. Eric Nkansah, the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES); Bismarck Fuachie, the 2022 National Best Cocoa Farmer; Dr. Emmanuel A. Opoku, the Deputy Chief Executive at COCOBOD responsible for operations; Ray Ankrah, the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of finance and administration; and Francis Opoku, the Director, Legal and Solicitor Secretary at COCOBOD.

It is the board’s responsibility to supply basic school supplies to the children of cocoa producers in underprivileged cocoa-growing areas.

Speaking on Monday, May 20, during the committee’s inauguration in Accra, Dr. Addison stressed that the group would put forth great effort to use education to have a long-lasting effect on cocoa growers and their communities.

“I am grateful for the level of people who were entrusted to work with me; their combined experience and knowledge will surely boost our efforts and propel us forward.

“I am sure that their commitment and wisdom will be tremendously helpful in furthering the trust’s objectives. I was profoundly humbled to be given a leadership role again, this time with the COCOBOD educational trust fund, having previously served for a few years as the chairman of the COCOBOD scholarship scheme.
