Armed invasion halts Metro TV broadcast; Ignite Media Group demands accountability

Ignite Media Group (IMG), operators of Metro TV, Original TV, and Original 91.1 FM, has strongly condemned an armed invasion of their North Ridge premises by an auctioneer, a court bailiff, and armed police officers on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

The brazen attack occurred around 9:30 am during a live broadcast of Good Morning Ghana.

According to IMG, George Addo, identified as the Director of Geld Mart, led the group into the studio, forcibly terminating the live show.

This follows a similar failed attempt last year, when Addo allegedly led masked officers to seize Dr. Randy Abbey’s vehicle, which was met with resistance.

The latest invasion caused panic among staff, leaving a private security officer with a head injury.

Ignite Media Group stated that excessive force was used, adding to the distress of employees and security personnel.

Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, intervened personally, sending officers to restore calm and ordering the intruding group to vacate the premises.

He assured IMG of a full investigation and enhanced security measures.

Ignite Media Group has condemned the intimidation and disruption, urging respect for lawful procedures in executing court orders and demanding accountability for the attack.
