The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into police custody after appearing before the Accra Circuit Court 9 on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Abronye was arrested on September 8 by the Ghana Police Service on charges of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.” Police officials have yet to provide full details of the conduct that led to the charges.
In court today, his legal team’s application for bail was denied, with the presiding judge ordering that he remain in police custody until his next appearance, scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2025.

The legal proceedings come in the wake of Abronye’s recent decision to file political asylum requests in eight countries — including Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
He has claimed he is facing political persecution and threats to his safety in Ghana.
