Ejisu by-election: Police invited EC officials Kingsley Nyarko and others due to an alleged bribery incident

Investigations into the purported electoral offence involving the member of parliament (MP) for Kwadaso Dr. Kingsley Nyarko and temporary EC officers during the by-election in Ejisu in the Ashanti Region have been launched by the Ghana Police Service.

Dr. Nyarko was seen putting a white envelope on a table in front of two EC representatives at the by-election on April 30 in a widely shared video.

The police stated that their investigations into the event have begun in a post on X on Friday.

They declared that they were working with the EC on the issue and that the parties concerned had been invited to assist with the inquiry.

“An investigation into the alleged electoral offence involving a member of parliament and certain temporary Electoral Commission officers during the by-election at Ejisu in the Ashanti region has been launched by the Ghana Police Service.”

“The Police have since invited George Sasu, Regina Serwaa, and Dr. Kingsley Nyarko to participate in the investigation and have their statements appropriately obtained. As the inquiry progresses, police and the Electoral Commission are collaborating,” it said.
