AUDIO: “I Am Really Pained” — Upper West Akim MP Mourns Dr. Omane Boamah
The Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim, Hon. Drah Emmanuel, has shared a touching account of his personal and political relationship with the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a pillar who played a pivotal role in his victory during the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on Hot FM’s Morning Drive with Nana Addai (Big Kay), the MP recounted how Dr Omane Boamah reached out to him during the election campaign and stood by him throughout the constituency.
“He helped me campaign in several communities, including Krodua, Nyanua, Breman, and Abam Krom—even in the heavy rains. He also supported me with campaign T-shirts, funds, and other resources. When I eventually won, he was so happy that his investment in me had not gone to waste,” Hon. Drah said.

According to him, Dr Omane Boamah’s influence extended beyond the campaign. Just last month, he received news of his nomination to serve on the Defence Board, a recommendation he strongly believes came through the late minister’s hand.
The MP admitted that the sudden death of Dr Omane Boamah has left a deep void in his life.
“Though the Bible urges us not to put our trust in men, the truth is that God uses men to bless others. It was my prayer that Dr Omane Boamah would live long to continue being a blessing to me and to my constituents,” he expressed with emotion.
Hon. Drah further revealed that Dr Omane Boamah often called to check on him, applauding his contributions in Parliament and encouraging him to keep up the good work.
“For this sad incident to happen to me, frankly speaking, I am really pained,” he lamented.
