Deputy Minister-Designate for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has called for the use of modern technology to improve the operations of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Speaking at his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, he said technology can help ECG work better, especially in billing, revenue collection, and metering.
According to him, one major problem facing ECG is too much human involvement in these processes, which can lead to errors and inefficiencies.

“I strongly support the view that technology should be used to reduce human interference in our processes. I believe that once this is done, some of the challenges facing ECG can be solved,” he said.
He assured that adopting modern technology would make ECG more efficient and help the company collect more revenue.
