Focus on how to meet the huge expectations of Ghanaians – NPP member tells govt appointees

Kingsley Amoakwa-Boadu, a member of the Legal Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on appointees of the Mahama administration to focus their attention on the high expectations of Ghanaians, urging them to shift their focus from the past and look ahead to the future.

Speaking during a discussion on KeyPoints on TV3 with Alfred Ocansey on Saturday, January 25, 2025, Amoakwa-Boadu stressed the importance of responding to the current needs and aspirations of the public, as they are looking to the new administration for answers.

“For the previous government, they’ve lost; it’s a historical loss; there’s no argument about that. So, look at the future; look at what the people expect,” Amoakwa-Boadu stated, urging a forward-thinking approach to governance.

He acknowledged the tendency to compare the actions of the current administration to the previous government but emphasised that the priority should be on meeting the expectations of the Ghanaian people in the present and moving forward.

“There is no time to dwell on what happened before. The focus must now be on the future and the work that is yet to be done to meet the promises made to the people,” he added.

Amoakwa-Boadu also acknowledged that the government would face scrutiny and challenges as it seeks to implement its policies but made it clear that Ghanaians will be patient during the initial phase of the administration.

He noted, “From maybe six months to nine months coming, you will get a lot of heat from us. Now we have to give you the space to operate,” signalling that while constructive criticism is a given, it will follow after the administration has had time to prove itself.
