NDC Group Petition Police Over Alleged Looting at STC Terminals

A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) loyalists in the Ashanti Region has called on the police to investigate alleged looting incidents at the State Transport Corporation (STC) terminals in Oforikrom and Adum.

The group, acting on a tip-off from an informant, uncovered the disappearance of several key items, including power plants, car tires, and other equipment at the terminals.

They reported the matter to the Oforikrom Police Station and the Adum Divisional Police for thorough investigation.

Alhaji Nje, leader of the group and a member of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Party and Civil Society Organisations (CSO) Committee, explained that enquiries into the missing power plant at the Oforikrom terminal revealed conflicting accounts. The terminal administrator reportedly claimed the equipment had been sent for repairs, but an engineer contradicted this, alleging the plant had been sold, supported by a presented receipt.

The group also expressed shock over reports that three brand-new buses at the Oforikrom terminal had been burnt, further intensifying concerns about the extent of the damage and mismanagement.

While awaiting police feedback, the group plans to conduct further background checks and compile their findings for submission to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team. According to Alhaji Nje, the team’s involvement is crucial for ensuring accountability.

“We informed the police before visiting the premises. Upon arrival, we confirmed that the power plant was missing, alongside other items. This situation is shocking and unacceptable. We are compiling our report for the ORAL team,” he stated.

The group has called for swift and thorough investigations to recover the missing equipment and hold any culprits accountable.
