Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State designate for Government Communications, has declared that public officials must embrace criticism to drive progress and uphold good governance.
“We are not above criticism. It is through your feedback that we improve,” Kwakye Ofosu stated during an appearance on TV3’s KeyPoints on January 25, 2025.
He encouraged journalists, civil society organisations (CSOs), and citizens to exercise their right to scrutinise government actions without fear, adding that such oversight is essential for transparency and efficiency in governance.
Kwakye Ofosu further called for a shift in focus from post-administration audits to real-time monitoring, urging citizens to hold the current government accountable today rather than waiting for the end of its term.
“Criticism is vital for progress. If the framers of the Constitution anticipated only praise, there would be no need to guarantee the right to free speech,” he remarked, stressing the importance of open dialogue in strengthening Ghana’s democracy.
